Diana and the Stag

Diana and the Stag

Story Summary

The story of Diana, the moon goddess, protecting the forest and animals, teaching people to love nature.

A Long, Long Time Ago in Greece, a land full of mystery, there was a beautiful and powerful moon goddess named Diana. Diana was in charge of the forest. She loved everything in the forest. The lush trees, the delicate and charming flowers, and the lively and cute little animals were all her darlings.

Diana often wandered through the forest at night. Her figure was as pure as the moonlight. She would gently stroke the trunks of the big trees as if comforting her own children. And the animals in the forest all knew her. They were not afraid of her arrival. Instead, they would affectionately gather around her.

Diana Standing in the Forest

One day, Diana found an injured male deer in the forest. There was a deep wound on the deer's leg. It lay on the ground, with its eyes full of fear and pain. When Diana saw it, her heart was full of pity. She gently crouched down and stroked the deer's head with her tender hands, whispering soothing words. Then she found some herbs in the forest and carefully bandaged the deer's wound. Under Diana's care, the deer's wound gradually healed.

Since then, this male deer had always stayed by Diana's side and became her companion. Diana took the deer to stroll in the forest. She would tell the deer which herbs could cure diseases and which flowers should not be trampled randomly. She also told the deer that the forest was everyone's home and should be well - protected.

Diana and the Male Deer by the Stream

Diana and the male deer often came to the small stream in the forest. The stream was crystal clear, and one could see the sand and stones at the bottom as well as the swimming fish. Diana would drink water by the stream, while the deer ate grass beside her. Sometimes, Diana would tidy her hair and clothes in front of the stream. Her beautiful face was reflected in the water as if there was also a moon goddess in the water. And the deer would look curiously at the reflection in the water, not understanding why there was another self and Diana in the water.

Diana would then smile and tell the deer that it was the magic of the stream. She would also warn the deer not to stomp or jump around randomly in the stream because the stream was also a part of the forest. It nourished all things in the forest. If the stream was dirtied or muddied, then the animals in the forest would have no clean water to drink, and the plants could not grow healthily.

Diana Stops the Hunters

However, one day, a group of hunters came to the forest. They brought bows and arrows and hunting nets, intending to catch the animals in the forest. When Diana saw this, she was very angry. She stood in front of the hunters and said in her majestic voice, "This forest is the place I protect. The animals here are all my friends. You can't harm them." The hunters were a little frightened when they saw Diana's sacred and inviolable appearance. But one hunter was unwilling to give up. He raised his bow and arrow, trying to shoot at the male deer. Diana quickly waved her bow and arrow and blocked the hunter's shot. Then she cast a spell, making the hunters lose their way and leave the forest in dismay.

Diana turned around, looked at the male deer and other animals, and said earnestly, "We must always protect our homeland well and not let the bad guys destroy it." Since then, the animals in the forest respected Diana even more. They also learned to protect each other and jointly guard this beautiful forest.

This story tells us that nature is our friend. We should be like Diana, love nature and protect the animals living in nature.
