Once upon a time, in a small village in India, there lived a little boy named Raju. Raju's family was not wealthy. They lived in a small earthen hut and had simple food every day. But Raju was always full of fantasies and he longed to have a great many things.
One day, while playing in the forest outside the village, Raju found an ordinary - looking earthenware pot. The pot was half - hidden in the grass and covered with strange patterns. Raju curiously picked up the pot and noticed that something seemed to be glittering inside it.
After Raju took the pot home, he began to study it. Suddenly, he heard a tiny voice coming from the pot: "Raju, you can make a wish to me and I will fulfill your wish." Raju was both surprised and delighted. After thinking for a while, he said, "I want a lot of gold coins so that I can buy a lot of delicious food for my family and also live in a big house." As soon as he finished speaking, gold coins began to pour out of the pot continuously. Raju was extremely happy. He bought a lot of food and beautiful clothes with these gold coins and also built a big house.
However, Raju was not satisfied. He made another wish to the pot, wanting more jewels, silk and fine horses. The pot also fulfilled his wishes one by one. Raju's home became more and more magnificent and he had countless wealth.
Nevertheless, Raju found that he didn't become happier. Every day he worried that someone would come to steal his wealth, and his family and friends gradually drifted away from him because of his change. Raju began to realize that this wealth hadn't brought him true happiness.
So, Raju decided to be no longer greedy. He found the magic pot and said to it, "I no longer need this wealth. I just want my original simple and happy life." The magic pot fulfilled his wish once again.
Raju's home changed back to the original small earthen hut and his life regained its former peace. But this time, Raju had learned the truth that contentment brings happiness. His relationship with his family and friends became close again and he was happy every day. Since then, Raju had never had greedy thoughts again. He cherished everything he had and lived a happy life. The story of this magic pot also spread in the village, educating every child to be content.
