Once upon a time, in a small village in Japan, there lived a kind - hearted old woman. One day, the old woman came to the riverside to wash clothes as usual. While she was scrubbing the clothes by the river, suddenly she saw an extremely huge peach floating on the river. This peach was big and red, looking very tempting. The old woman was very surprised. She had lived in the village for so many years and had never seen such a large peach. So, she carefully fished the peach out and took it home.
After the old woman brought the peach home, she put it on the table. Suddenly, the peach slowly split open by itself, and there was a lovely little boy inside. The old woman was both surprised and happy. She thought this little boy was a gift from heaven, so she adopted him and named him Momotaro. Momotaro grew up very healthy, strong, and very clever. He lived happily with the old woman. As Momotaro grew up gradually, he became more and more brave and had a kind heart. He always wanted to protect the people in the village.
One day, a terrible news came to the village. It turned out that there was a group of monsters on the mountain outside the village. They often came to the village to make trouble, robbing the villagers of their food and property and also hurting the villagers. After Momotaro knew about it, he decided to subdue these monsters and protect the village. He began to gather his companions. First, it was a loyal and brave dog, then a clever monkey, and also a beautiful pheasant. They were all moved by Momotaro's courage and determination and were willing to follow him to fight against the monsters. Momotaro took the dog, the monkey and the pheasant, and set off with the glutinous rice balls prepared by the old woman on their backs.
They walked along the mountain road for a long time and finally reached the place where the monsters lived. It was a dark and gloomy cave, and a terrifying atmosphere pervaded the surroundings. The monsters' cave was full of the property robbed from the village. Momotaro and his companions saw this scene and were more determined to defeat the monsters.
Momotaro and his companions bravely rushed into the cave. The dog barked and pounced on the monsters, the monkey jumped among the monsters to distract them, and the pheasant pecked at the monsters with its sharp beak. Momotaro was even more heroic. He took a sword and rushed towards the leader of the monsters. During the battle, they encountered a lot of difficulties. The monsters were tall and fierce, but Momotaro and his companions did not flinch at all. They cooperated with each other. Whenever they felt hungry, they took a bite of the glutinous rice balls and were full of strength again.
After a fierce battle, Momotaro and his companions finally successfully subdued the monsters. The monsters were beaten to pieces and begged for mercy one after another. Momotaro told them that they were not allowed to come to the village to make trouble any more in the future and should be kind - hearted creatures. The monsters agreed to Momotaro's request. Momotaro and his companions happily returned to the village with the property retrieved from the monsters.
The people in the village saw that Momotaro and his companions returned safely and also brought back the robbed property. They all cheered with joy. The villagers held a grand celebration for Momotaro and his companions. Since then, the village has regained its former peace and tranquility. Momotaro and the old woman continued to live happily, and his heroic deeds have been praised forever by people.
