In a small village in Japan, there was a fertile farmland. In the corner of the farmland, there was an extremely large pumpkin. This pumpkin was no ordinary one, for a lovely little elf lived inside. The elf had transparent wings, a tiny body, and a pair of sparkling eyes.
The local farmers were all very hard - working, toiling arduously in the fields every day. However, one year, a great many pests suddenly appeared in the farmland. These pests bit the crops full of holes, and the farmers were very worried but didn't know what to do.
The elf saw the farmers' distress in the pumpkin house and decided to help them. It flew out of the pumpkin house, its small figure glittering in the sunlight. The elf flew around the farmland once, carefully examining the situation of those pests. It found that these pests all flew over from a nearby patch of grass.
The elf thought for a while and then waved its small magic wand. The wand emitted a soft ray of light, and wherever the light reached, the pests all dropped down one after another. But the elf knew that this was only a temporary solution, and it had to find a way to solve the problem completely.
The elf flew back to the pumpkin house and found some magic seeds in the corner of the pumpkin house. It had accidentally got these seeds in the forest before, and they had special magic power. The elf took the seeds and flew to the farmland, and then carefully sowed the seeds in every corner of the farmland.
Soon, the seeds germinated. The plants that grew emitted a faint fragrance. This fragrance was extremely unpleasant to the pests, but it did no harm to the crops at all. When the pests smelled this fragrance, they dared not approach the farmland any more.
The farmers were extremely happy when they saw that the pests had left and the crops began to thrive again. They laughed and celebrated in the farmland. They knew that there must be some magical power helping them, but they didn't know it was the elf's contribution.
The elf in the pumpkin house also smiled happily when seeing the farmers so happy. Since then, the elf continued to live in the pumpkin house, guarding this farmland and the farmers. Whenever the farmers encountered difficulties, the elf would quietly lend a helping hand.
