In a beautiful small town, there lived two very good friends, a little girl named Gerda and a little boy named Kay. They played together every day. Whether it was among the flower beds in spring or by the small river in summer, their laughter could be heard everywhere.
However, one cold winter, the evil Snow Queen came to this small town. The Snow Queen had powerful magic. When she saw Kay's pure and bright eyes, she cast a spell and took him away. Immediately, the small town was covered with ice and snow, and the people were plunged into panic and sorrow. Gerda was determined to find Kay and bring him back.
Gerda put on her thickest clothes and took some dry rations, and then bravely set out on the journey to find Kay. She walked through the forest covered with ice and snow. The trees in the forest were like huge ice sculptures, and when the cold wind blew, it made a howling sound. She met a little crow. The little crow told her that it had seen the Snow Queen flying to the far north with Kay. After thanking the little crow, Gerda continued to move towards the north.
On the way, Gerda encountered a group of robbers. The robbers took her to their camp, where Gerda met the robber girl. At first, the robber girl was very fierce to Gerda, but Gerda's kindness and bravery touched her. The robber girl told Gerda that the Snow Queen lived in a huge ice palace. That ice palace was extremely cold, and there were many dangerous magic traps around it. Nevertheless, the robber girl still gave Gerda some useful advice and also gave her a horse to help her move forward.
After a long journey, Gerda finally arrived at the Snow Queen's ice palace. The ice palace exuded a cold air. Huge ice blocks were piled up to form a towering palace, and everything around was white, shining with a cold light. Gerda walked into the ice palace carefully. Her heart was full of worry about Kay, but her eyes were still firm.
Deep in the ice palace, Gerda found Kay frozen in ice. Kay stood there with a dull look in his eyes, and his body was covered with ice and snow. When Gerda saw this scene, she couldn't help but shed tears. Her tears dropped on the ice surface, and something magical happened. The ice began to melt slowly. Gerda hugged Kay tightly, using her warmth and love to melt the remaining ice and snow on him.
Finally, Kay regained consciousness. He and Gerda hugged and wept. Then, they left the ice palace together. On their way home, as they got closer and closer to the small town, the ice and snow also began to melt slowly, and the earth regained its vitality. When the people in the small town saw them coming back, they were very happy. Gerda and Kay played happily in the vibrant small town as before, and their friendship became even deeper.
