In a small village in Russia, every winter it would be covered with thick snow. One winter, a little boy named Peter built a very cute snowman in the yard. The snowman had two black coal balls as eyes, a carrot as a nose, and an old small hat askew on its head.
Peter would run to the yard every day to chat with the snowman. He would tell the snowman the interesting things that happened at school, such as his deskmate accidentally falling asleep in class and even snoring. Although the snowman couldn't speak, it always listened quietly, as if it could understand every word Peter said.
Day by day, the weather got warmer gradually. The snowman knew that its time was running out. Looking at Peter, it had a strong wish in its heart, that was to be able to accompany this little master forever. But it was just a snowman and would melt as soon as spring arrived.
One day, Peter came to the snowman as usual and he found that the snowman looked a bit sad. Peter gently touched the snowman's arm and said, "Snowman, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Although the snowman couldn't speak, it looked at Peter tenderly with its two coal - ball eyes.
As the temperature got higher and higher, the snowman's body began to melt slowly. Peter was very worried. He tried to find some ice cubes to reinforce the snowman. But these ice cubes melted quickly and couldn't stop the snowman from disappearing at all.
The snowman was both touched and sad when it saw that Peter was working so hard for it. It knew that it was about to leave this world and this lovely little master.
Finally, the snowman melted completely, leaving only a small puddle of water on the ground. Peter sat beside it sadly, knowing that his good friend had gone.
However, what Peter didn't know was that before disappearing, the snowman made a wish. This wish turned into a small seed and was buried under the snowdrift in the yard.
The next winter, when Peter came to the yard again, he was surprised to find that in the place where the snowman was last year, a beautiful snow - white tree had grown. The tree was covered with glittering and translucent ice crystals, just like the snowman used to be. Peter ran over happily and hugged the trunk. He knew that this was the snowman's way of fulfilling its wish to accompany him forever.
