Once upon a time, there was an orphan. He was all alone in the world and lived in extreme poverty. He resided on the outskirts of a small village, having only a dilapidated thatched cottage to protect him from the wind and rain. Despite the difficult life, he had a very kind heart and was always willing to help others.
One night, as usual, he walked out of his cottage while his stomach was growling with hunger. He looked up at the sky, where the stars were twinkling. He silently told his wishes to the stars, hoping to get something to help him get through this difficult time and also wishing that he could have the ability to help more people as poor as he was.
While he was making a wish to the stars, suddenly, he saw something shining in the woods ahead. Curiously, he walked closer and found a silver coin on the ground. He couldn't believe his eyes. It seemed as if the silver coin had fallen from the stars in the sky. He picked up the silver coin, his heart full of gratitude. He thought that the stars must have heard his wish and thus bestowed this silver coin upon him.
With this silver coin, the first thing that came to his mind was not to buy food for himself to fill his stomach, but an old sick granny in the village. The granny was all alone and had no money to buy medicine for her illness. He took the silver coin to the village pharmacy, bought some medicine, and then delivered it to the granny's home.
When the granny saw the medicine brought by the orphan, she was so moved that her eyes were filled with tears. She held the orphan's hand tightly and kept saying thank - yous. The orphan smiled and told the granny that it was a gift from the stars and hoped she would get better soon.
After helping the granny, the orphan used the remaining money to buy some seeds. He went back to the small plot of land beside his cottage and started to cultivate. He took good care of these seeds, watering and weeding every day.
As time passed, the seeds gradually sprouted and grew up, and finally bore rich fruits. The orphan harvested a lot of food. He distributed some of the food to other poor families in the village and also sold some of it at the market.
With the money from selling the food, the orphan's life gradually got better. But he still kept his kind heart and continued to help those in need. His kind deeds were seen by the villagers. Everyone respected him and learned from him one after another.
Since then, this orphan has lived a happy life, and that kind star seemed to have been silently protecting him all the time. He would never forget that it was the star that bestowed upon him the silver coin that changed his fate.
