Once upon a time, there was a little tailor who lived in a small town in the United States. Although the little tailor was small in stature, he had an extremely intelligent mind. His tailor shop was not large, and it was filled with all kinds of fabrics and needles and threads. Every day, he worked hard, sewing all kinds of beautiful clothes for the people in the town.
One day, a difficult problem arose in the small town. A huge and fierce beast appeared in the forest outside the town. This beast often ran into the town to make trouble, destroying people's houses and crops. Everyone was very afraid of it. The mayor announced that whoever could subdue this beast would be given a generous reward. When the little tailor heard this news, an idea came to his mind. He thought this was a great opportunity to prove himself.
The little tailor set off with his most trusted sewing kit and a pair of scissors. He came to the forest and searched everywhere for the beast's trail. Before long, he found the beast's lair. The little tailor wasn't the least bit afraid. He came up with a brilliant idea. Around the beast's lair, he set up many clever traps using thick branches and vines, and then sewed some small bells onto the leaves and branches near the traps with needles and threads.
When the beast returned, it didn't notice these traps at all. It swaggered along and suddenly triggered the traps. The branches and vines in the traps quickly wrapped around the beast's feet, and those small bells also made a clear ringing sound. The beast was startled and began to struggle, but the more it struggled, the more tightly it was bound.
The little tailor walked carefully to the trapped beast. When the beast saw the little tailor, it roared angrily, trying to break free from the trap to attack him. But the little tailor remained calm. He shouted at the beast, "You bad guy, you always make trouble in the town. Now you are caught by me." The beast was not convinced and continued to struggle. The little tailor said again, "If you promise me that you will never go to the town to make trouble again, I will let you go." The beast simply ignored the little tailor's words and continued to struggle.
The little tailor thought for a while. He took out a large piece of cloth from his sewing kit and then quickly cut it with scissors. Soon, he made a huge face mask. While the beast was a bit tired from struggling, he quickly put the face mask on the beast's mouth. The beast couldn't roar or bite anymore. The little tailor said to the beast again, "If you agree to my condition, I will let you go and will also make a lot of delicious food for you." Finally, the beast calmed down. It seemed to understand the little tailor's words and nodded.
The little tailor brought the beast back to the town. When the people in the town saw that the little tailor had subdued the beast, they all cheered. The mayor was very happy and, as promised before, gave the little tailor a generous reward. The little tailor used this money to expand his tailor shop and bought more beautiful fabrics. Since then, the beast really never went to the town to make trouble again. It and the little tailor even became friends. The little tailor often made some special clothes for the beast, and the beast would also protect the safety of the town. The little tailor's intelligence and wisdom made him a hero in the town. Children all liked to listen to his story very much and also hoped that they could be as clever and brave as him.
