Prince of the Windmill

Prince of the Windmill

Story Summary

The adventures of a prince living in a windmill.

On the edge of a remote small town in Germany, there stands an ancient windmill. This windmill is quite large, and its blades turn slowly in the gentle breeze, making a creaking sound. Inside the windmill lives a prince. This prince is not the kind who lives in a magnificent palace. His windmill palace, though simple, is full of warmth.

The prince does a lot of interesting things every day. In the early morning, he sings along with the rhythm of the windmill's rotation. His song is clear and loud, as if it could reach far, far away. He also makes friends with the small animals around. Little squirrels jump around in front of his window sill, and little birds stop on his hand, chirping and chatting with him.

The Prince and the Squirrel

One day, the prince decided to explore the forest behind the windmill. He walked slowly along a path covered with fallen leaves. The surrounding trees were tall and thick, and the sunlight shone through the gaps between the leaves, forming patches of golden light. Suddenly, he heard a low growl. The prince was a little frightened, but he still summoned up his courage and continued to move forward. It turned out that a little wolf was trapped in a hunter's trap. The little wolf's leg was caught by the clip, and it whined in pain.

The prince took pity on it. He carefully approached the little wolf and used his wisdom and dexterous hands to open the trap. The little wolf looked at the prince gratefully and gently licked the prince's hand. Since then, the little wolf has become the prince's good friend and often accompanies the prince to play in the forest.

The Prince and the Little Wolf in the Forest

As time passed, the small town was hit by a big storm. The strong wind howled, big trees were uprooted, and houses were on the verge of collapse. The prince's windmill was also threatened, and its blades were blown askew. But the prince was not afraid. He and his animal friends worked hard together to protect the windmill. The little squirrel helped find some branches to strengthen the structure of the windmill, and the little wolf patrolled around to prevent other dangers from approaching.

After their joint efforts, the windmill finally survived the storm. The residents of the small town were very grateful to the prince and his animal friends. They invited the prince to live in the town. But the prince refused, saying that he preferred his windmill palace.
