A long, long time ago, in Wuhan beside the Yangtze River, there was a magical Yellow Crane Tower. The Yellow Crane Tower stood tall, and its upturned eaves were like the outstretched wings of a bird, which was very magnificent.
Legend has it that there was once a woman surnamed Xin in this place. She was kind - hearted and ran a small tavern. One day, a shabbily - dressed Taoist priest came to her tavern. Seeing that he was pitiful, the woman surnamed Xin received him warmly and didn't charge him a penny. After that, this Taoist priest came every day, and the woman surnamed Xin still treated him in the same way.
After some time, the Taoist priest was about to leave. To thank the woman surnamed Xin for her kindness, he drew a yellow crane on the wall with tangerine peel. He told the woman surnamed Xin that as long as she clapped her hands, the yellow crane would fly down from the wall and dance. The woman surnamed Xin tried it with some doubt. Sure enough, the yellow crane really flew down and danced gracefully. This wonderful scene attracted many people to come and watch, and the tavern of the woman surnamed Xin was booming as a result.
Ten years later, the Taoist priest came back again. He was very pleased to see that the woman surnamed Xin had lived a prosperous life because of the yellow crane's performance. Then, he rode on the yellow crane and flew away. The woman surnamed Xin and the others were very reluctant to part with him, but they knew that this was the arrangement of the immortal.
To commemorate this magical event, people built the Yellow Crane Tower at the place where the yellow crane took off. This tower bears this beautiful legend. After years of vicissitudes, it has always stood on the bank of the Yangtze River and has become a landmark building in Wuhan, attracting countless people to come and admire it.
