Fairy Tale Bookstore

Fairy Tale Bookstore

Story Summary

The story of a bookstore where fairy - tale characters can come out of the books.

In a small town in Italy, there was a special bookstore named "Fairy - Tale Book House". This bookstore looked ordinary. It was a small storefront filled with all kinds of books. The owner of the bookstore was a kind - hearted old man. He wore a pair of thick glasses and always wore a somewhat old but very neat sweater.

There was a secret in the bookstore. That was, the characters in the fairy - tale books here could come out. Only the owner knew this secret. He regarded these fairy - tale characters as his most precious friends. Every night, when the last customer left, the old man would gently close the store door and start his wonderful time with his fairy - tale friends.

One day, a little girl named Lily got lost in the town. She looked everywhere for the way home. Unconsciously, she walked to the door of this "Fairy - Tale Book House". She saw the warm light inside through the window. It was like seeing hope. So she pushed the door open and walked in.

Lily and the old man in front of the bookshelf

After Lily walked into the bookstore, she was attracted by the countless books in front of her. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity. The old man saw Lily and walked over with a smile. He asked her why she was alone here. Lily told the old man that she was lost. The old man comforted her and said not to worry. Wait here for a while, and he would help her find the way home.

While Lily was waiting, she began to wander among the bookshelves. She gently stroked the covers of those books, as if she could feel the stories in the books calling her. Suddenly, she heard a faint rustling sound, like the pages of a book turning. She turned her head and was surprised to find a Thumbelina sitting on an open book, smiling at her.

Thumbelina and Lily chatting

Lily was so surprised that her mouth couldn't close. But Thumbelina greeted her very naturally. Thumbelina told Lily that this was a magical place. All the fairy - tale characters could meet people in the real world here. Lily was extremely excited. She began to chat with Thumbelina and listened to her tell about her adventures in the book.

Just when they were chatting happily, several more fairy - tale characters appeared. Pinocchio hopped over. His nose stretched and shrank, which was very interesting. And there was Little Red Riding Hood. She carried her basket, which was full of snacks for her grandma.

Everyone sitting together

Everyone sat together and began to share their stories. Pinocchio told about how he changed from a lying puppet to an honest little boy. Little Red Riding Hood told about how she cleverly defeated the big bad wolf. Lily was fascinated. She thought these stories were more wonderful than any stories she had ever heard before.

Before she knew it, it was already late at night. The old man came over and told Lily that he had contacted her family and they would come to pick her up soon. Lily was a little reluctant to leave these fairy - tale friends, but she knew she had to go home.

Before Lily left, Thumbelina gave her a small, glittering petal, saying it was a gift from the fairy - tale world and could bring her good luck. Lily carefully put the petal away and then said goodbye to everyone one by one.

When Lily's family came to pick her up, she looked back at that "Fairy - Tale Book House". She knew that this would be an experience she would never forget. Since then, Lily often came to this bookstore. Every time, she would look forward to seeing those fairy - tale friends again.
