Story Summary

An inspiring story about everyone having their own strengths.

In a beautiful forest, there live a great many small animals. There is a clever little monkey. It can nimbly jump among the trees and quickly find the sweetest fruits on the trees. There are also small ants with great strength. They can carry food much larger than their own bodies. And there is a little bird that can sing. Its song is so clear and pleasant that it seems to make the whole forest immersed in a wonderful melody.

However, there is a tiny firefly that is very unhappy. It thinks that it has neither the agility of the little monkey, nor the great strength of the small ants, nor the charming song of the little bird. It can only emit a faint light at night. It feels that this light is really insignificant compared with the special skills of other small animals.

The firefly hides behind the grass

One day, a special party was held in the forest. All the small animals were going to show their special skills. The little monkey performed wonderful acrobatics on the tree. The small ants worked together to show the magnificent scene of carrying huge food. The little bird stood on the branch and sang a sweet and moving song. Everyone was cheering and clapping, but the firefly silently hid behind the grass. It didn't dare to attend this party. It was afraid that everyone would laugh at its faint light.

At this time, the little rabbit accidentally fell into a very deep trap. The trap was dark and cold. The little rabbit was extremely frightened and shouted loudly for help. The little monkey wanted to stretch a long branch into the trap to pull the little rabbit up, but the branch was not long enough. Although the small ants had great strength, they were too small to pull the little rabbit out at all. The little bird flew anxiously around the mouth of the trap, but it could do nothing either.

The firefly flies towards the trap

The firefly heard the little rabbit's cry for help and summoned up the courage to fly over. When it flew above the trap, the faint light on its body suddenly became very bright, illuminating the entire dark trap. With the help of the firefly's light, the small animals saw the situation in the trap. The little monkey found a vine, and the small ants helped to put the vine down. The little rabbit grasped the vine, and everyone pulled the little rabbit up together.

All the small animals were very grateful to the firefly. They said to the firefly, "Although your light seems very faint, it has a great effect in the dark. This is a very remarkable special skill." After hearing these words, the firefly was very happy. It finally understood that everyone has his own special skill. No matter how small this special skill seems, it will play a huge power at the right time.

From then on, the firefly was no longer self - abased. Every night, it would happily fly around and use its light to illuminate the corners of the forest.
