Her life was very tough and she had to do a great deal of heavy housework every day. But she was always full of hope and believed that her life would surely change for the better. Alicia lived in the house of her stepmother and two sisters. They treated her very badly and always made her do the most tiring jobs and wear the shabbiest clothes.
One day, a handsome prince came to this small town. The prince was going to hold a grand ball and he invited all the young girls in the town to attend. Alicia's stepmother and two sisters were very excited. They put on their most beautiful clothes and were ready to go to the ball. But Alicia could only watch on the side because she didn't have any beautiful clothes. Just when she was feeling very sad, a fairy appeared in front of her. The fairy used magic to conjure up a beautiful dress and a pair of magical glass slippers for Alicia. The fairy told her that the glass slippers had magic, but at midnight, the magic would disappear.
Alicia came to the ball in her beautiful clothes and glass slippers. As soon as she walked into the ballroom, everyone was attracted by her beauty. When the prince saw her, he immediately came over and invited her to dance. Alicia and the prince danced gracefully in the ballroom. They danced one dance after another as if there were only the two of them in the whole world. Alicia had never been so happy.
However, when the clock struck twelve at midnight, Alicia suddenly remembered what the fairy had said. She quickly turned around and ran towards the door. In her haste, she dropped one of her glass slippers. The prince picked up the glass slipper and he was very eager to find this beautiful girl. So, he carried the glass slipper and searched all over the town.
The prince searched the whole town and finally came to Alicia's home. When Alicia's stepmother and two sisters saw the prince, they all wanted to try on that glass slipper. But the glass slipper didn't fit any of their feet. Finally, Alicia came out and she tried on the glass slipper. It fit her perfectly. The prince was very happy and he recognized that Alicia was the girl who had danced with him at the ball.
The prince took Alicia back to the palace and they held a grand wedding. Since then, Alicia has lived a happy life. She no longer has to do heavy housework but lives happily in the palace with the prince. And her kindness and hard - work have always been praised by people.
