Once upon a time, there was a boy named Jack. He and his mother depended on each other for survival. Their family was extremely poor and they only had one cow. One day, Jack's mother asked him to take the cow to the market and sell it to get some money to support their lives.
On the way to the market, Jack met a strange old man. The old man was holding some beans in his hand. He said to Jack that these were no ordinary beans. They were magic beans. As long as they were planted, a beanstalk reaching the sky would grow, and by climbing along the beanstalk, one could reach a magical place. Jack was attracted by the old man's words. He thought it was a very interesting thing, so he exchanged the cow for the old man's magic beans.
When Jack got home, his mother was very angry when she saw that he only brought back a few beans. She thought Jack had done a very stupid thing. In a fit of anger, she threw the beans out of the window.
At night, something strange happened. The beans thrown out of the window had grown into a huge beanstalk overnight, and the beanstalk reached all the way to the sky. Jack was very curious, so he decided to climb up along the beanstalk to have a look. Jack climbed up the beanstalk for a long, long time and finally reached the top.
He found himself in a strange place where there was a huge castle. Jack walked into the castle carefully and found that there were gold and silver treasures everywhere. Just as he was excitedly looking around, suddenly he heard a loud snoring sound. Following the sound, he saw a giant sleeping. The giant was very tall. In front of him, Jack was like a tiny ant.
Jack was afraid of being discovered by the giant, so he quietly hid behind a pile of treasures. He noticed that there was a hen that could lay golden eggs beside the giant. Jack thought that if he could take this hen back, he and his mother would never have to live in poverty again. So, while the giant was still sleeping, he quietly approached the hen, trying to steal it.
However, the hen suddenly crowed and woke the giant up. When the giant saw Jack, he was very angry. He roared loudly, "You little thief! How dare you come to steal my things!" Jack was very frightened, but he still summoned up his courage and said to the giant, "I'm just a poor child. My mother and I are very poor. I want to take something back to improve our lives." The giant didn't listen to Jack's explanation at all. He wanted to catch Jack.
Jack quickly ran around in the castle, thinking of a way while running. Suddenly, he saw a huge bag. He had an idea.
Jack took the bag. When the giant chased him, he cleverly led the giant to a trap. When the giant ran above the trap, Jack quickly covered the giant with the bag and tied it tightly. The giant struggled in the bag but couldn't get out.
Jack successfully trapped the giant. He took the hen that could lay golden eggs and quickly climbed down along the beanstalk. When he got home, he showed the hen to his mother. His mother was very happy. Since then, Jack and his mother have lived a wealthy life relying on the golden eggs laid by the hen.
