In ancient Britain, there was a peaceful small village. At the edge of the village, there was a mysterious forest filled with all kinds of wonderful creatures and plants, but few people dared to go deep into it. In this village, there lived a little girl named Lily. She was full of curiosity and yearned for that mysterious forest.
One night, Lily was lying in bed and saw through the window that there seemed to be a faint light deep in the forest. The light was flickering, like stars falling on the ground. Unable to restrain her curiosity any longer, she decided to go into the forest to find out.
Lily walked carefully into the forest. The trees around her looked extremely tall in the night, like giants guarding the forest. She followed the direction of the light and shuttled among the trees. The small animals in the forest all looked at her curiously. A few little rabbits hopped around beside her as if they were showing her the way. As she walked, the light grew stronger and stronger, and Lily's heart beat faster and faster.
Finally, she came to a small clearing. In the middle of the clearing, there grew a huge flower. The petals of this flower were soft white, and the stamen emitted a bright light, like a small sun, illuminating everything around. This was the nocturnal flower. The light it bloomed at night was like the moonlight falling on the ground, beautiful and mysterious. Lily opened her mouth in amazement. She had never seen such a magical flower before.
Lily walked gently towards the nocturnal flower. She could feel the warmth radiating from the flower. She reached out her hand, wanting to touch the soft petals. Just as her fingers were about to touch the petals, a little elf suddenly flew out from behind the flower. The elf's body was shining with the same light as the nocturnal flower. It said angrily to Lily, "You can't touch the nocturnal flower casually. It is the treasure of the forest." Lily was startled and quickly withdrew her hand. She apologized to the elf and said that she was just too curious.
Seeing Lily's sincere appearance, the elf was no longer angry. It told Lily that the nocturnal flower only bloomed at night and needed to absorb the moonlight and the spiritual energy in the forest to grow. It was the guardian of the forest, and its light could drive away the evil forces in the dark and protect all the creatures in the forest.
After hearing the elf's words, Lily became more in awe of the nocturnal flower. She and the elf sat beside the nocturnal flower and began to talk about the stories in the forest. The elf told Lily that there were many other secrets in the forest, such as the treasure hidden in the tree hole, the stones that could sing, and the spring that could grant wishes. Lily was fascinated. She thought this forest was like a world full of magic.
Unconsciously, the day began to dawn gradually. The light of the nocturnal flower also slowly faded, and the petals began to close. The elf said to Lily, "You should go home. The forest is not as safe during the day as it is at night, and the nocturnal flower also needs to rest." Although Lily was a little reluctant, she knew that what the elf said was right.
Lily bid farewell to the elf and the nocturnal flower and walked out of the forest along the way she had come. When she looked back, the forest had regained its former mystery. Since then, Lily often came to the edge of the forest at night and looked at the place where the nocturnal flower was from a distance, her heart full of wonderful memories of that magical flower and the forest. She also understood that there are many magical things in nature, and we should respect and protect them.
