In a small town in the UK, there lived a little boy named Tom. He was extremely fond of drawing, but his family was not wealthy and didn't have much money to buy him all kinds of paintbrushes and drawing papers. One day, Tom picked up a pencil on his way to school. This pencil looked ordinary, but Tom felt that it had a mysterious air about it.
Tom took this pencil to school. During the break, he took out the pencil and drew a little mouse on a piece of paper. All of a sudden, something amazing happened. The little mouse drawn on the paper actually came to life and ran around on the desk. Tom's eyes widened in astonishment. He couldn't believe what he was seeing.
Tom wanted to catch the little mouse, but it ran very fast. It jumped from the desk to the floor and then scurried into a small hole in the corner. Tom was a bit worried. He was afraid that the little mouse would make a mess in the classroom, but he didn't know how to turn the little mouse back.
After school, Tom took the magic pencil home. He drew a little bird in his own room. The bird also came to life, flying around the room and singing a beautiful song. Tom was very happy. He thought this magic pencil could bring him a great deal of fun.
However, Tom also knew that he couldn't bring too many drawn things to life, or it would cause trouble. But his curiosity still overcame his reason. One day, he drew an elephant. As soon as the elephant appeared, it filled his small room completely. The elephant's trunk accidentally knocked down Tom's bookshelf, and the books were scattered all over the floor.
Tom realized that he had made a mistake. He wanted to turn the elephant back, but he didn't know how. He began to look around the room for clues about this magic pencil. Finally, he found a line of small words on the pencil shaft: "Only when you draw with a sincere heart, the things you draw will be obedient."
Tom calmed down. He redrew a picture of the elephant going back into the painting. This time, he drew with a sincere heart. He imagined the elephant quietly returning to the prairie in the painting. Sure enough, the elephant slowly shrank and then went back into the painting.
After this incident, Tom became more cautious when using this magic pencil. He used this pencil to draw some beautiful flowers for his neighbors to decorate their gardens, and also drew some cute little animals for the children in the town to play with. And that magic pencil became his most precious treasure. He learned to use his sincere heart and responsibility to handle the magic power it brought.
