In a small town in Russia, there was a baker. The bread he baked was fragrant, soft and delicious, but he was not wealthy. Nevertheless, he was very kind - hearted and always thought about those who were poorer than himself.
Every day, the baker would distribute a part of the freshly - baked bread to the poor who were starving and freezing on the street. When those poor people received the bread, their eyes were full of gratitude and they kept thanking the baker. The baker always responded with a smile, because he thought that being able to help others was a very happy thing.
One day, something amazing happened. When the baker opened the oven as usual, he found that there was much more bread in it than the dough he had put in. The baker was very surprised, but he soon thought that this might be a reward from God for his kind behavior. Instead of keeping the extra bread to sell for money, he continued to distribute it to more poor people.
As time went by, the baker's kind deeds spread throughout the whole town. People in the town respected him very much, and everyone was willing to buy bread from his bakery, even though he didn't raise the price of his bread despite the better business. The baker's life became happier and happier. He no longer worried about his life and also made a lot of friends. He knew that all of this was because he had chosen to share bread with the poor at the beginning, and thus his kind - heartedness led him to live a life full of happiness and warmth.
