In a secluded mountain forest, there lived a group of monkeys. One night, the moon was big and round, and the moonlight shone on the ground like a layer of silver gauze covering the earth. After playing among the trees, these monkeys came to a well. Suddenly, a little monkey discovered that there was a moon in the well. It shouted in surprise, "Oh no, the moon has fallen into the well!" Hearing this, the other monkeys gathered around the well one after another.
Looking at the moon in the well, the monkeys were all very worried. An old monkey frowned and said, "We must get the moon out, or there will be no moonlight to illuminate the forest at night." So, the monkeys began to discuss how to get the moon out. They talked one after another and came up with a solution.
The monkeys decided to hang upside down from the tree beside the well one by one. The monkey at the bottom reached out to fish for the moon. The old monkey at the top held the tree trunk tightly, and the monkeys in the middle also held each other tightly. The little monkey at the bottom tried hard to reach out his hand to the moon in the well, but every time when he was about to touch it, the moon swayed with the water waves, and the little monkey just couldn't get it.
Just at this moment, a little monkey happened to look up at the sky. He found that the moon was still hanging in the sky intact. He shouted loudly, "Stop fishing, everyone! The moon is in the sky!" Hearing this, the other monkeys all looked up. Then they realized that the moon in the well was just the reflection of the moon in the sky. The monkeys looked at each other and all smiled shyly.
