Once upon a time, there was a thief. He saw a very beautiful large clock hanging in front of a house. This clock was exquisitely made, and after seeing it, the thief had an evil thought and wanted to steal this clock. However, the clock was big and heavy, and the thief couldn't move it at all. After thinking for a long time, he finally came up with an idea that he thought was brilliant. He believed that as long as he covered his ears, he wouldn't be able to hear the sound made by the clock, and thus he wouldn't be discovered by others when stealing the clock.
So, the thief began to act. He tightly covered his ears with both hands and then swaggered towards the large clock. He was still secretly proud in his heart, thinking that his method was really clever. He slowly approached the large clock, completely unaware of how ridiculous his behavior was.
When the thief reached the side of the large clock, he began to strike it hard, wanting to break it into pieces and then move it away piece by piece. But he forgot that although he couldn't hear the bell sound because he was covering his ears, the bell sound could travel very far. The neighbors around heard the bell sound and all ran out. When they saw the thief striking the large clock, they immediately understood what was going on.
The neighbors were very angry. They rushed forward together and caught the thief effortlessly. Only then did the thief suddenly realize that he had done such a stupid thing. He thought that covering his ears could cover up the bell sound, but he didn't know that others could still hear it. This story tells us not to deceive ourselves. It is impossible to do bad things and expect others not to know. Eventually, one can only deceive oneself and end up being caught.
