Story Summary

The story of small animals in the forest building a mushroom house together.

In a thick Russian forest, there live many lovely little animals. There are clever little foxes, hard - working little squirrels, kind - hearted little rabbits, and slow - moving little turtles. One day, while the little fox was playing in the forest, it was suddenly drenched by a heavy rain. As he ran to take shelter under a big tree, he thought, "If only we had a house to keep out the wind and rain."

The little animals gather together to discuss

The little fox told the other little animals about this idea. All the little animals thought it was a wonderful idea. So they got together to discuss how to build a house. The little squirrel said, "I know there is a place in the forest where a lot of big mushrooms grow. We can use mushrooms to build a house." Everyone thought this proposal was very good, so they set off towards that mushroom field.

The little animals carry mushrooms

When they arrived at the mushroom field, the little animals got busy. The little fox and the little rabbit were not very strong, so they were responsible for moving the smaller mushrooms to the place where the house was to be built. The little squirrel jumped around in the trees, picking out suitable big mushrooms and then pushing them down to the little turtle. Although the little turtle moved slowly, he was very patient and slowly carried the big mushrooms to the destination.

Build the mushroom house together

When all the mushrooms had been moved to the right place, the little animals began to build the house. They used the big mushrooms as the pillars of the house and the small mushrooms as the walls. The little fox used some branches to connect the mushrooms, and the little rabbit used leaves and vines to block the gaps. The little squirrel spread a layer of soft moss on the roof so that the house would not leak. The little turtle dug a small ditch around the house so that the rainwater could flow away.

The mushroom house is completed

After everyone's joint efforts, the mushroom house was finally completed. The little animals were all very happy, and they held a small celebration in front of the mushroom house. The little fox took out his treasured wild fruits, the little squirrel brought pinecones, the little rabbit took out carrots, and the little turtle also contributed the small shells he had found. The little animals sang and danced in the mushroom house and had a wonderful night. Since then, this mushroom house has become the home of the little animals, and they have spent many warm and happy times in it.
