In a quiet small mountain village, there lived a little girl named Xiaohua. Xiaohua's home was a lovely wooden house, and under the eaves of the wooden house hung a beautiful wind chime. This wind chime was given to her by her grandmother. The wind chime was made of colorful glass and thin red strings. Whenever a gentle breeze blew, the wind chime would make a clear and pleasant sound.
Xiaohua liked this wind chime very much. She thought the sound of the wind chime was like nature singing. Every morning, Xiaohua would be awakened by the sound of the wind chime. She opened her eyes, looked at the sunlight shining through the leaves outside the window, and listened to the wonderful sound of the wind chime, feeling extremely comfortable. She would hum a little tune she made up herself following the rhythm of the wind chime, and then get up happily.
One day, Xiaohua's good friend Xiaoming came to her home to play. As soon as Xiaoming arrived at the door, he heard the sound of the wind chime. He said happily to Xiaohua, "The wind chime in your home sounds really nice!" Xiaohua said proudly, "My grandmother gave it to me. Its sound is like magic and can make people very happy." Then, Xiaohua and Xiaoming sat by the window and listened to the sound of the wind chime quietly together. They closed their eyes and seemed to hear the wind telling stories from afar, the birds singing merrily on the branches, and the brook flowing gurglingly in the mountains.
After a while, Xiaohua and Xiaoming were so inspired by the sound of the wind chime that they were full of energy. They stood up and began to dance under the wind chime. They held hands and spun around. Their happy laughter mixed with the sound of the wind chime echoed in the yard. Although their dance steps were a little childish, every movement was full of joy. The surrounding small animals seemed to be attracted by this happy atmosphere too. The little sparrows chirped on the branches as if they were applauding for them; the little rabbits hopped in the grass as if they were dancing with them.
The sky gradually darkened as the sun slowly set in the west. Xiaohua and Xiaoming were tired from playing. They sat on the small stools in the yard, looking at the sky dyed orange - red by the setting sun. The wind chime swayed gently in the breeze, making a soft sound. Xiaohua said, "I'm really happy today. The sound of the wind chime has made us have such a wonderful day." Xiaoming nodded and said, "Yes, the sound of this wind chime is like our good friend."
Finally, Xiaoming was about to go home. Xiaohua sent him to the door. The wind chime made a clear sound in the wind as if it was saying goodbye to Xiaoming. Xiaoming said to Xiaohua, "Let's come to listen to the sound of the wind chime again tomorrow." Xiaohua smiled and agreed. Xiaoming could still hear the gradually fading sound of the wind chime on his way home. That sound accompanied him all the way, making his heart full of warmth and happiness. Xiaohua went back into the house and looked at the wind chime. She knew that the sound of this wind chime would always bring happiness to her and the people around her.
