In a thick forest in Sweden, there live many small animals. There is a clever little fox, a lovely little rabbit, a hard - working little squirrel, and also a wise old owl. The old owl lives in a tall tree deep in the forest. Its tree hole is spacious and comfortable.
This old owl has been living in this forest for a very long time. It has witnessed the changing of the four seasons in the forest and also knows the habits of every small animal. The small animals all respect the old owl very much because it can always use its wisdom to offer help when everyone encounters difficulties.
One day, the little fox came to the old owl with a worried look on its face. The little fox said, "Grandpa Owl, I found a strange place in the forest. There are a lot of shiny things there. I want to go and have a look, but I'm a little scared." The old owl listened and said with a smile, "Little fox, it may be small mirror fragments accidentally left in the forest by humans. However, there are also many unknown dangers in the forest. You mustn't get close easily. You can find a long branch and first gently touch those things to see if there is any danger." The little fox listened to the old owl's words, found a branch, and carefully went to check. Sure enough, it found some mirror fragments, which were shining brightly in the sunlight. The little fox happily said to the old owl, "Grandpa Owl, you are so smart."
Another time, the little rabbit got lost in the forest. The little rabbit was so worried that tears welled up in its eyes. It ran around everywhere but couldn't find its way home no matter what. Finally, the little rabbit ran to the old owl's tree. The little rabbit cried and said, "Grandpa Owl, I can't find my way home. What should I do?" The old owl comforted the little rabbit and said, "Don't cry, little rabbit. Do you remember anything special near your home?" The little rabbit thought for a while and said, "There is a very big mushroom near my home." The old owl thought for a moment and then told the little rabbit, "You keep walking in the direction where the sun sets. When you come across a stream, walk along the stream to the left. When you see that big mushroom, you will be home." The little rabbit followed the old owl's method and indeed got home smoothly.
There was also one time when the nuts that the little squirrel had stored for the winter were much less. The little squirrel was very worried. It had searched around its tree hole for a long time but couldn't find them. So the little squirrel came to ask the old owl for help. The old owl asked the little squirrel, "Have you noticed any strange footprints around?" The little squirrel thought carefully and said, "I saw some small footprints, like those of little birds." The old owl smiled and said, "Then go and have a look at the pine tree on the edge of the forest. Little birds sometimes hide the nuts they find there." The little squirrel quickly ran to that pine tree and indeed found its lost nuts.
Since then, the small animals have respected the old owl even more. And the old owl continues to use its wisdom to protect the small animals in the forest. The forest is full of warm and harmonious atmosphere.
