The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats

The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats

Story Summary

Before going out, the mother sheep warns the little sheep to be vigilant against the big bad wolf. The little sheep cleverly see through the wolf's disguise and are finally saved.

Once upon a time, there was a mother sheep, and she had seven little lambs. One day, the mother sheep was going out to look for food. She was very worried about the safety of her little lambs because a big bad wolf lived nearby. Before leaving, the mother sheep told the little lambs, "My darlings, I'm going out for a while. You must be careful of the big bad wolf. If you hear a hoarse voice, it can't be me, so don't open the door. Only when you hear my gentle and soft voice can you open the door." The little lambs all nodded obediently, indicating that they would remember their mother's words.

The big bad wolf disguises outside the door

Soon, the big bad wolf came to the little lambs' house. He wanted to eat all the little lambs, but the little lambs were very vigilant. The big bad wolf tried to disguise his voice as the mother sheep's. He pinched his nose and made a very hoarse voice, saying, "My darlings, mother is back. Open the door quickly." When the little lambs heard it, they knew it was not their mother's voice. They answered loudly in the house, "You are not our mother. Your voice is too hoarse. We won't open the door." The big bad wolf had no choice but to leave dejectedly.

The big bad wolf disguises again

The big bad wolf didn't give up. He came up with a plan. He ran to a flour store, dipped his paws in flour to make his voice softer, and then returned to the little lambs' house. He knocked on the door again and said in a relatively gentle voice, "My darlings, mother is back. Open the door quickly." When the little lambs heard it, they thought this voice was still a bit strange. So they looked out through the crack of the door. They saw the big bad wolf's black paws and knew it was not their mother. They answered loudly again, "You are not our mother. Your paws are black. We won't open the door." The big bad wolf failed again and he was very angry.

The big bad wolf swallows stones

The big bad wolf thought of another idea. He ran to the river and swallowed a few big stones, and then came to the little lambs' house again. This time his voice became very gentle, almost the same as the mother sheep's. He said, "My darlings, mother is back. Open the door quickly." When the little lambs heard it, they thought this voice was very much like their mother's, but they were still very cautious. They looked out through the crack of the door again. They saw the big bad wolf's black paws and noticed that his belly was bulging. The little lambs thought it was very strange and they didn't open the door immediately.

The little lambs hide

The little lambs thought this might be the big bad wolf's new trick, so they began to look for places to hide in the house. Some hid under the bed, some hid in the wardrobe, and some hid behind the stove. The big bad wolf waited for a while. Seeing that the little lambs didn't open the door, he angrily broke the door open with his paws. He rushed into the house and searched everywhere for the little lambs, but he couldn't find them after searching for a long time.

The mother sheep comes back to save the little lambs

Just as the big bad wolf was rummaging through the house, the mother sheep came back. When she saw the mess at home, she knew something bad had happened. She began to look for the little lambs everywhere and finally found the little lambs hiding in various corners. When the little lambs saw their mother was back, they were very happy. The mother sheep took the little lambs away from home and went to live in a safe place. And because the big bad wolf had swallowed stones, his belly was too heavy to run, so he could only watch the little lambs escape helplessly.
