A long, long time ago, during the Spring and Autumn period in China, there was a very famous doctor named Bian Que. Bian Que was highly skilled in medicine and could cure many difficult and complicated diseases.
One day, Bian Que went to pay a visit to Duke Huan of Cai. After seeing Duke Huan of Cai, Bian Que examined him carefully for a while and then said to him seriously, "Your Highness, there is a little problem with your skin. If it is not treated in time, I'm afraid it will get worse." However, Duke Huan of Cai didn't take it seriously. He thought he was in excellent health and had no illness at all. He even said to Bian Que, "I'm not ill and don't need treatment." Bian Que had no choice but to leave.
Ten days later, Bian Que went to visit Duke Huan of Cai again. Looking at Duke Huan of Cai, he said more worriedly, "Your Highness, your illness has already reached the muscles. If you don't get treatment now, it will become more serious." Duke Huan of Cai was very unhappy when he heard this. He thought to himself why Bian Que always said he was ill. He still firmly believed that he was in good health and ignored Bian Que. Bian Que left helplessly once again.
Another ten days passed, and Bian Que went to see Duke Huan of Cai again. This time, looking at Duke Huan of Cai, Bian Que said very anxiously, "Your Highness, your illness has reached your intestines and stomach. If you don't treat it, it will be dangerous." Duke Huan of Cai thought that Bian Que was simply talking nonsense. He said angrily, "I'm fine. Don't bother me anymore." Bian Que could only leave disappointed again.
After another ten days, when Bian Que saw Duke Huan of Cai from a distance, he turned around and left immediately. Duke Huan of Cai was very strange and sent someone to ask Bian Que why. Bian Que said, "When the illness was on the skin, it could be cured by applying hot water compresses; when it was in the muscles, it could be cured by acupuncture; when it was in the intestines and stomach, it could still be cured by taking medicine; but now Your Highness's illness has penetrated deep into the bone marrow. This is an illness that even the immortals can't cure. There is nothing I can do."
Not long after that, Duke Huan of Cai fell ill. He felt unbearable pain all over his body. At this time, he remembered Bian Que's words and regretted not having listened to Bian Que's advice. But it was too late. Duke Huan of Cai's illness became more and more serious, and finally, he died without being cured.
This story tells us that disease prevention is very important. Just like our bodies, if small problems are dealt with in time when they first appear, they won't develop into big problems. Just as in dealing with many things in life, nipping problems in the bud is the best way.
