Story Summary

The legendary story of the ancient bronze wild boar statue.

In an old town in Denmark, there is a mysterious bronze wild boar statue. This statue has been there for a very long time, so long that even the oldest person in the town can't tell clearly when it first appeared. Legend has it that this bronze wild boar has magical powers.

There was a boy named Little Hans who was full of curiosity about this bronze wild boar statue. Every day, he would pass by the square where the statue was located, and every time he would stop and look up at the vivid appearance of the wild boar. The eyes of the wild boar seemed to emit a mysterious light, as if telling ancient stories.

Little Hans approaching the wild boar statue

One day, Little Hans came to the statue as usual. He couldn't help but reach out and touch the wild boar's nose. At that very moment, he seemed to hear a low growl. Little Hans was startled, but his curiosity overcame his fear. He began to observe the statue carefully and found that the wild boar's body was engraved with strange symbols, which he had never seen before.

Little Hans decided to go and ask the old scholar in the town. The old scholar lived in an old house on the edge of the town, and the house was full of all kinds of books. After listening to Little Hans' description, a flash of surprise showed in the old scholar's eyes. He told Little Hans that these symbols might be an ancient kind of magic runes, and it was said that this bronze wild boar statue was once a divine beast guarding the town.

Little Hans talking with the old scholar

Little Hans became even more curious and wanted to know more stories about the bronze wild boar. The old scholar dug out a dilapidated book from the bookshelf. The book recorded the legend about the bronze wild boar. It turned out that a long, long time ago, the town had encountered a terrible disaster. Dark monsters gushed out from the underground, wanting to devour the whole town. Just when the town's residents were in despair, the bronze wild boar appeared. It was radiating golden light all over and launched a fierce battle with the monsters.

After a tough fight, the bronze wild boar finally defeated the monsters, but it was also seriously injured. In order to guard the town forever, it transformed into a statue, and those runes were the source of its power. Little Hans was fascinated by the story. He secretly made up his mind to be like the bronze wild boar and guard his own town.

Little Hans standing in front of the statue and making a wish

Since then, Little Hans would come to the bronze wild boar statue every day. He would wipe the dust off the statue and also tell his secrets in front of the statue. He told the bronze wild boar that he would study hard and become strong so that he could protect everyone in the town. Little Hans believed that the bronze wild boar could hear his words and would always guard him and the town. And that bronze wild boar statue still stands quietly in the square, witnessing the changes of the town and also guarding Little Hans' wonderful wish.
