In the middle of a vast American field, there stood a scarecrow. This scarecrow, looking at everything around him every day, had a great wish in his heart, which was to possess wisdom. Although he had no brain, it didn't stop him from longing for wisdom. He always watched the people working in the fields. They could think, talk, and solve all kinds of problems, and the scarecrow was extremely envious.
The scarecrow thought that the sky was so vast that it must know a lot of secrets about wisdom. So, he looked up at the sky every day, hoping that the sky could give him some inspiration. He murmured to the sky, "Sky, can you tell me how I can possess wisdom? I don't want to be just a brainless scarecrow. I want to become smart." But the sky just stayed there quietly and didn't give him any response. The scarecrow wasn't discouraged. He knew that the pursuit of wisdom wouldn't be an easy thing.
One day, a little bird landed on the branch beside the scarecrow. When the scarecrow saw that the little bird could fly freely and find all kinds of food, he thought that the little bird must be very wise. The scarecrow said to the little bird, "Little bird, can you tell me how I can possess wisdom? I want to be as smart as you." The little bird tilted its head and looked at the scarecrow, then said, "Wisdom? I think if you visit different places more often, you will gain wisdom. You can try to move around." The scarecrow was helpless after hearing this and said, "I don't have feet. I can't move." The little bird thought for a while and then said, "Then you can chat more with the things around you. Maybe they can tell you." The scarecrow thought the little bird's words made sense.
The scarecrow began to chat with the flowers in the field. He said to a blooming daisy, "Daisy, do you know how to be wise?" The daisy said, "I think feeling the sun and rain and then making myself more beautiful is my wisdom. You can also find your own value, and that is your wisdom." The scarecrow seemed to be lost in thought after hearing this. He wondered what his value was. Was it to scare away the birds that came to eat the crops? But he still felt that it was not quite the same as the wisdom he wanted.
Night came, and the scarecrow was alone in the field, with silence all around. He looked at the moon and stars in the sky and fell into deep thought again. He thought that perhaps wisdom couldn't be obtained all at once and needed continuous exploration. Although he had no brain, he had a heart eager for wisdom. He decided that no matter how difficult it was, he would continue to pursue wisdom.
One day, when a farmer was working in the field, he accidentally left a book at the edge of the field. The scarecrow found this book. Although he couldn't read, he thought that there must be a lot of wisdom hidden in this book. He asked the little bird to help him open the book. Looking at those strange symbols, the scarecrow was full of curiosity. Since then, he asked the little bird to read a little of the content in the book to him every day. Slowly, the scarecrow found that he seemed to understand some things. He began to understand the rules of the things around him and could also give some advice to the small animals that got lost in the field. He knew that he was one step closer to wisdom.
As time passed, the scarecrow became more and more full of wisdom. He was no longer the scarecrow who could only stand foolishly in the field. He could share with the farmers how to plant crops better and could tell the small animals a lot of interesting stories. His wisdom was like sunlight, shining on this field. His story also spread in the field, and everyone knew about this scarecrow who had no brain but pursued and obtained wisdom.
