Story Summary

An educational story about a child losing trust because of lying many times.

Once upon a time, in a small village in Greece, there was a little boy who was a shepherd. Every day, the little boy's job was to take the flock of sheep to the hillside near the village to graze. The grass on the hillside was very fresh and tender, and the little lambs ate happily. Looking at the lambs, the little boy thought his job was very easy and carefree.

The little boy shouts in the direction of the village, and the villagers come running with tools

One day, the little boy was very bored. Suddenly, he came up with an "interesting" idea. He shouted towards the village, "Wolf! Wolf!" When the villagers heard his cry, they were very worried. They immediately put down their work, picked up sticks, hoes and other tools, and hurried towards the hillside. When they arrived at the hillside out of breath, they found that there was no wolf at all. Only the little boy was there laughing heartily. The villagers were very angry and told the little boy that he should not lie like this again.

The little boy shouts again, and the villagers come hesitantly

A few days later, the little boy was bored again. He forgot the villagers' warning before and shouted towards the village again, "Wolf! Wolf!" Although the villagers were a little doubtful, they were still worried about the safety of the little boy and the flock of sheep. So they put down their work once more and rushed to the hillside. As a result, they found that they had been deceived by the little boy again, and the little boy was laughing even harder this time. The villagers were very angry. They severely criticized the little boy and then went back to the village angrily.

A real wolf comes, and the little boy shouts in horror

A few more days passed, and a real wolf appeared. It quietly approached the flock of sheep, and the little lambs began to run around in all directions. The little boy was extremely frightened. He shouted desperately towards the village, "Wolf! Wolf!" However, this time, the villagers thought that the little boy was lying again, and no one paid attention to his cry. The wolf got closer and closer and began to attack the flock of sheep. The little boy could only watch helplessly, regretting that he should not have lied before. In the end, the wolf carried away a few little lambs, and the little boy began to cry sadly. This story tells us that lying is wrong, and lying many times will make you lose others' trust.
