In a small town in France, there lived a lovely little girl named Lucy. Lucy was extremely fond of dancing. Every time she saw others dancing, an envious glint would shine in her eyes. One day, Lucy spotted a very beautiful pair of dancing shoes at the town's market. These shoes were red and embroidered with exquisite flower patterns, as if they had come out of a fairy - tale world. The old man selling the shoes told Lucy that they were a pair of magical dancing shoes.

Hearing that they were magical dancing shoes, Lucy was full of curiosity. So she bought the shoes with all her pocket money. As soon as she put on these shoes, she couldn't help but start dancing. Her dancing was light and graceful, like a butterfly fluttering about. The people around were attracted by her dancing and clapped and cheered for her one after another. Lucy was very happy. She kept on dancing, from the market to the town square.

Lucy's dancing filled the whole town with a joyous atmosphere. The more she danced, the more excited she became and she simply couldn't stop. However, gradually, Lucy began to feel tired. Her feet hurt, but the dancing shoes still kept making her jump non - stop. She wanted to take off the shoes, but the shoes seemed to be stuck to her feet and couldn't be taken off no matter what. Lucy began to be frightened and a look of horror showed on her face.

At this time, Lucy remembered the old man who sold the shoes. Bearing the tiredness and pain, she jumped to the market. She found the old man and cried, begging him to help her take off the shoes. Looking at Lucy, the old man said earnestly, "Child, although these dancing shoes can bring you joy, you also need to know when to stop." With that, the old man gave a gentle pull and the shoes came off Lucy's feet.

Lucy nodded thoughtfully after hearing the old man's words. She understood that one should not pursue any wonderful thing too much. One should know when to stop, otherwise it will bring trouble to oneself. Since then, Lucy still liked dancing very much, but she would arrange her time reasonably and would not let herself get overly tired again.
