In a thick forest in India, there lived a clever monkey and a simple - minded elephant. They were very good friends and often played and searched for food together in the forest.
One day, the elephant went out to look for food as usual. It walked slowly while using its long trunk to roll up the tender branches on the roadside to eat. Suddenly, with a "clang", the elephant felt its feet sink, and it turned out that it had fallen into a trap set by hunters. The trap was very deep, and the elephant was trapped inside. No matter how hard it tried, it couldn't climb out, so it was so worried that it shouted for help loudly.
The clever monkey heard the elephant's cry for help not far away, and it hurriedly rushed over in the direction of the sound. When it saw the elephant in the trap, worry filled the monkey's eyes. It knew that this trap was very dangerous. If it couldn't rescue the elephant as soon as possible, the elephant would be in danger of losing its life if the hunters came back. The monkey walked around the trap, thinking about ways to save the elephant. It looked at the environment around the trap and found some small protrusions on the wall of the trap that could be climbed.
The monkey came up with an idea. It ran to the nearby area and found many long vines. With its dexterous hands, it connected the vines one by one and made a long rope. Then, it tied one end of the vine rope tightly to the trunk of a big tree beside it, and threw the other end into the trap, allowing the elephant to roll it up with its trunk.
The elephant tightly rolled the vine and began to climb up hard with the encouragement of the monkey. The monkey also exerted all its strength on top, pulling the vine to help the elephant. But the elephant was really too heavy, and the monkey pulled very strenuously, panting with exhaustion. But it didn't give up and still gritted its teeth and persisted.
After a lot of effort, the elephant finally climbed out of the trap slowly. As soon as the elephant came out, it gently stroked the monkey's head with its long trunk to show its gratitude. The monkey also smiled happily, and it said to the elephant, "We are friends, and friends should help each other. Moreover, in the face of danger, we should be calm and use wisdom to solve problems."
From then on, the friendship between the elephant and the monkey became even deeper. They continued to live happily in the forest and told this story to other animals in the forest, so that everyone knew how important wisdom and kindness were.
