In a thick forest in India, there live a great many animals. The peacock is the most beautiful animal in this forest. Its colorful feathers glitter with charming luster in the sunlight. The peacock loves music and dance very much. Whenever the morning sun shines into the forest, it will dance gracefully in an open space.
Other animals are busy looking for food and building shelters every day. They don't understand why the peacock dances and think it's a waste of time. The little rabbit hops past the place where the peacock is dancing. It stops and watches for a while, then frowns and says, "Peacock, why are you jumping around? What's the use of it?" The peacock answers with a smile, "Little rabbit, dancing makes me happy, and music and dance are wonderful things."
But the little rabbit still doesn't quite understand. It thinks that finding carrots to eat is the most important thing. The peacock doesn't give up. It begins to guide the little rabbit with simple rhythms and movements. The peacock spreads its large tail and sways its body with the softly hummed tune. Slowly, the little rabbit is infected by the peacock's enthusiasm, and its ears also sway with the rhythm.
A few days later, more animals notice the change in the little rabbit. The little monkey looks curiously from the tree. It swings from this tree to that tree and comes to the peacock and the little rabbit. The little monkey scratches its head and says, "What are you doing? It looks very interesting." The peacock says with a smile, "Little monkey, this is dancing. It can make us feel happy and wonderful."
The little monkey also joins in. The peacock begins to teach them more complicated dance movements and also shares all kinds of wonderful sounds in the forest as music. Under the leadership of the peacock, the small animals learn to appreciate music and dance. They no longer think it is a waste of time, but gather together every day to dance with the music.
The atmosphere in the forest becomes more joyful and warm. Whether it is the birds singing on the branches or the rustling of the leaves gently blown by the breeze, they all become the music for their dance. The small animals find that, apart from daily survival activities, there are such interesting things to do. And the peacock also feels extremely happy because it can share the music and dance it loves with everyone.
