Once upon a time, several people got a pot of wine. But there was only one pot of wine and everyone wanted to drink it. So someone proposed, "Let's have a competition on the ground to draw snakes. Whoever finishes drawing first will get this pot of wine." Everyone thought this was a great idea.
One of them drew extremely fast and finished drawing the snake in no time. He picked up the wine pot and was just about to drink when he looked at the others who were still bent over and drawing hard. He thought to himself, "I can still add a few feet to the snake."
So, he held the wine pot in his left hand and started to draw feet for the snake with his right hand. Just as he was drawing feet for the snake, another person also finished drawing the snake. This person immediately snatched the wine pot from his hand and said, "Snakes don't have feet originally. If you add feet to it, it is no longer a snake." After saying that, he drank the wine.
The person who added feet to the snake could only watch helplessly as others drank the wine. He regretted very much and thought, "If only I hadn't drawn feet on the snake."
This story tells us that when doing things, we should do just enough and not do redundant things. Otherwise, like this person, we may lose something that we could have had.
