In a large forest in Sweden, there live many small animals. When winter arrives, a great number of animals go into hibernation, and the whole forest becomes quiet and desolate. However, the little rabbit doesn't hibernate. It misses those hibernating friends very much and also looks forward to the arrival of spring especially, because it knows that once spring comes, its friends will wake up.
The little rabbit decides to do something to welcome spring so that when spring really arrives, the hibernating friends can feel the breath of spring more quickly. Thus, the little rabbit starts to be busy in the forest.
First of all, the little rabbit comes to the bear's tree hole. It brings a beautiful wind chime from home, which is made of small branches and dried flowers in the forest. The little rabbit carefully hangs the wind chime at the entrance of the tree hole. It thinks that when the gentle spring breeze blows, the wind chime will make a clear sound, and in this way, the bear can hear the call of spring in its sleep.
Then, the little rabbit comes to the little hedgehog's nest. The little hedgehog's nest is covered with thick fallen leaves, and the little rabbit gently pushes aside the leaves.
The little rabbit selects the brightest flowers from the ones it has carefully collected and places them beside the hedgehog's nest. These flowers are colorful and give off a faint fragrance. The little rabbit hopes that when the hedgehog wakes up, the first thing it smells is the fragrance of spring flowers.
After that, the little rabbit runs to the place where the little snake hibernates. The little snake lives in a small cave, which is a bit gloomy.
The little rabbit finds many colorful stones from the brook in the forest and arranges them one by one outside the little snake's cave. These colorful stones look extremely dazzling outside the dim cave, like small gems. The little rabbit thinks that when the spring sunlight shines down, these stones will reflect beautiful light, and the little snake can see it as soon as it opens its eyes.
Day by day, the ice and snow in winter start to melt slowly. The little rabbit goes to the places where its friends hibernate every day, looking forward to the arrival of spring.
Finally, one day, the warm sunlight fills the whole forest, and spring has really come.
The bear wakes up slowly to the clear sound of the wind chime. It walks out of the tree hole, sees the busy little rabbit, and smiles happily. The hedgehog also wakes up in the fragrance of the flowers. It sticks its head out, sees the beautiful flowers and the little rabbit, and is extremely moved. The little snake is also awakened by the light reflected from the colorful stones. It crawls out of the cave and plays merrily in the forest with the little rabbit, the bear, and the hedgehog.
The little rabbit jumps up happily as it looks at everyone's happy faces. The whole forest is full of laughter and joy, and everyone is very grateful to the little rabbit for what it has done to welcome spring.
